Avrora

The Avrora is one of St. Petersburg’s main movie theatres. It was opened in 1913 and was renovated at the beginning of the 2000s. New equipment, a 100 square meter screen and soft, comfortable armchairs and sofas were also installed in the auditorium. Moreover, two cafes were opened, which serve popcorn, candy, and soda, although be aware that they are over priced. It also has a smaller, VIP hall.

Dom Kino

If you are an admirer of European cinema, this movie theatre is for you. It tends to avoid streaming mainstream films and opts instead for art movies. You can always watch sensational novelty films and unusual independent movies as well as different festival films or cartoons during the holidays. Only real movie fans frequent this place. They come to discuss the latest cinema projects in a very nice cafe and restaurant located in the building. Dom Kino is the favourite movie theatre among St. Petersburg’s students. The films are often screened in the original language with Russian subtitles.
