Mariinsky Theatre is on a tour across Asia-Pacific Region
Mariinsky Theatre in Japan. The biggest in the theatre's history tour across countries of the Asia-Pacific Region will last one month. The diverse program include the Russian and foreign classical music, among which are compositions of Sergey Prokofiev and Dmitry Shostakovich. Already today, the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre, under the supervision of Valery Gergiev, will perform the dramatic symphony of Hector Berlioz - "Romeo et Juliette".
Japan is only a beginning of the grand tour across the mainland China, Taiwan, Macao and South Korea. Maestro Valery Gergiev is noting that the schedule is very tight, but music has its magic and the success during performances is the encouragement worth of all present and further efforts.
Just a few days ago, the sophisticated audience of the grand opera "Bunka Kaikan" in Tokyo has applauded to the performances of the Chorus, Opera soloists and the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre. During the past few days were performed the opera "Don Carlo" by Giuseppe Verdi and the symphony music concerts (which included the compositions from "Romeo et Juliette ", "Eugene Onegin" and "Prince Igor").
The performance was incredibly strong. It seems that the maestro has an inexhaustible source of energy. It makes you wonder - where does it come from? He always give us new ideas and forms for the expression, which force us to think and live through very strong emotions." - commented Yukiko Kagiya, the visitor of the "Bunka Kaikan".
Maestro Valery Gergiev and the artists of the Mariinksy Theatre are always a long anticipated guests in Japan. Not only the quality of the performance attracts visitors, but also the creativity and uniqueness of expressions.
Beside the compositions of Tchaikovsky and Verdi, during the tour will be performed works of Borodin, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Prokofiev and Berlioz.
