Boomfest Comic Arts Festival

The Boomfest international comic arts festival is currently back in St. Petersburg for the 5th year. The annual event is taking place throughout the city at several venues, featuring exhibitions and other events.

This year the festival will be hosting the famous French Canadian comic author Julie Doucet, who published "My New York Diary" in 1999, and later collaborated with director Michel Gondry on an animated short film based on the book. The festival will showcase some of her older comic work, but also her more recent work of collage and woodcuts.

Several other famous artist's work will be on display in St. Petersburg for Boomfest, including: the Italian illustrator Stefano Ricci, famous Soviet cartoonist Nikolai Radlov (1889-1942), and the Spanish illustrator and winner of the National Award of the Catalonian government for his work, Miguel Gallardo.

Boomfest will not only include exhibitions, but also several lectures, workshops, and a conference with representatives from all over Europe. The exhibitions will be held in St. Petersburg at various locations through October 16th, and comic will also be fore sale at the Small Hall of Manezh.
