You will visit one of the local museums listed below, according to your interests. The Regional Lore Museum, founded in 1894 is the city’s oldest. The museum has a good display detailing the natural history of the Far East including a stuffed Amur or Siberian tiger and Steller’s sea cow. You will see fascinating artifacts and costumes of the indigenous people, an interesting archeological section, and a modern history. The Art museum displays of religious icons, Japanese paintings, some 19th century Russian paintings, ethnic handicrafts and contemporary art.
