Novosibirsk City Tours

A city tour is a great way to get to know Novosibirsk. You will be shown Alexander Cathedral, Lenin Square which features the vast Novosibirsk Opera House, the railway station – the largest in Siberia. You will also visit the oldest part of the city, Gorkovo Street with its old wooden houses, the tiny St. Nicolas Chapel marking the very center of Russia and the Ob river embankment. You will be told about the history of the city which was founded as the future site of the Trans-Siberian railway bridge crossing the great Siberian river Ob. You will then visit the Local lore museum which has a good display covering the history and ethnography of Siberia. At the end of our tour you will have a chance to visit the Beresta museum.

This is an exciting tour to the scientific town of Akademgorodok, which is located 20 km south of Novosibirsk in the center of a pine and birch forest. Akademgorodok is a city built entirely for scientists and their families and is well known throughout the International scientific community. The Novosibirsk State University is located here, which is one of the leading universities in Russia. You will visit the House of Scientists with a library of over 100 000 volumes of literature from all over the world. You will have opportunity to visit the Mineralogical museum with its unique collection of minerals, fauna and flora of Russia. Other interesting museums are the Archeological museum, the Ethnography museum with more than 3000 displays from the Middle ages including weapons, pots and pans, and a mummy from the Pazyrlykskiy burial mound, 4 centuries B.C., which was found in Altai. Another interesting museum for all Trans-Siberian travels is the Open air museum of railroad techniques and trains, which displays the history of the Trans-Sib.
