Paintings by Frida Kahlo in St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg is hosting an exhibition of Frida Kahlo, which has already attracted enormous amount of visitors. Quite a number of people compare this exhibition with another exhibition of russian painter Serov, which took place in Moscow and also gathered a great number of people.
The exhibition takes place in Faberge Museum (nab. Reki Fontanki, 21, Shuvalovsky Palace) and will be open till 30th of April.
The exhibition "Frida Kahlo: Paintings and Graphic Art From Mexican Collections" became a real success among guests and citizens of St. Petersburg. "Frida Kahlo Retrospective at Faberge Museum" offers 35 paintings of the famous artist, as well as over 100 photographs and costumes.
The organization of Frida Kahlo exhibitions is a complicated process and such events are always anticipated by the public. The collection of such scale was brought to Russia for the first time. The director of Faberge Museum Vladimir Voronchenko, has commented that they had to spend one year in order to deliver art works of Frida Kahlo to St. Petersburg. The art works could be delivered only under certain conditions - only 10 paintings at a time and only under strict control by the supervisor throughout the whole duration of the transfer. Three flights were arrenged to deliver 32 paintings.
Organizers had to declare that they might limit the amount of the tickets sold during the day to 2000 tickets, due to the excitement over the exhibition and extremely long queues, so it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance. Exhibition is open from Saturday till Thursday from 10 am till 20:45 pm. The entrance fee is 450 RUR.
