The application "Get to Know Moscow.Photo" will work as Pokemon Go

The Moscow's Department of Information Technologies has developed the analogue application to the Pokemon Go game. The new application can be found under the name "Get To Know Moscow.Photo", where users, in order to achieve something in the game, follow the same action pattern as users of Pokemon Go. The task of the new application is to find and make selfies with the historical figures scattered across Moscow city, among which are: Yuri Gagarin, Alexander Pushkin, Peter Tchaikovsky, Mikhail Lomonosov, Ivan the Terrible, Peter I, Napoleon Bonaparte, Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich.

Just to remind you, the Pokemon Go is a multiplayer game with the elements of augmented reality. The special feature of the game is the usage of virtual visualizations which are projected on the images of the real world. The players are encouraged to go around the city streets in order to search and hunt Pokemons.

The application “Get to Know Moscow.Photo” will become more like a Pokemon Go game with the new update. At the moment, application allows to make pictures with the 3D model of the famous historical figure, which is related to one or another spot in Moscow. The current version of the application lists all addresses of virtual figures, but with the update they will be hidden, and players will have to use the navigation and compass features of their phone in order to find the location.

“The updated version will be working as popular game Pokemon Go. The character will be set on a map with the use of geomatics. As soon as the user is in a 50 meter range from the set spot, he gains the possibility to see and make a photo with the virtual character” – announced the department of the Information Technologies of Moscow.

The developers hope that the updated application “Get to Know Moscow.Photo” will make citizens and guests of the city more curious to explore the Moscow’s cultural heritage.
