- State Polytechnic Museum
The State Polytechnic Museum in Moscow is considered to be one of the oldest museums all over the world. Hard work of many Russian scientists-enlighteners, members of the Imperial Society and true lovers of natural sciences, anthropology and ethnography resulted in the opening of the Museum on October 12, 1872.
Nowadays the Museum is one of the largest and richest technical museums in Russia. Its unique collection totals about 160,000 museum exhibits and 150 displays, which reflect fragments of a history of science and engineering in Russia and represent culture of the peoples of different countries. The State Polytechnic Museum ensemble include the central Polytechnical Library, which contains more than 3 million books and periodicals. Poetic, musical and scientific evenings take place in the large lecture-hall of the museum.
