Historical city tour, 4hrs

Our guide will show you Irkutsk’s famous historical center including Znamenskiy monastery with graves of Decembrists and G. Shelikhov – the Russian Columbus. You will pass along Karl Marx Prospect with wooden buildings dating from the 19th century. You will walk along the embankment of the river Angara and visit the monument to Alexander III. You will then proceed to see the GES (hydro-electro station) and the ice-breaker ANGARA. Afterwards, you will be given the choice of visiting 1 of 4 museums: the museum of local lore, the Art museum, and the museum of the Decembrists or the Mineralogical museum.

Lake Baikal, Listvyanka village and the Taltsy ethnographical museum, 5hrs

This tour takes you on a short trip to Lake Baikal – the world’s largest fresh water lake. On the way to Listvyanka village which is situated on the shore of Baikal, we will make a stop at the Taltsy Ethnographical museum which has a fine display of typical Russian and Siberian wooden houses from the past centuries. In and around Listvyanka besides taking in excellent views from the bank of Lake Baikal, we will visit a museum of the Evenki Nomad camp, a manor of a Kazak and peasant, an Orthodox church and a Buryat summer house.

Lake Baikal, Listvyanka village and the Limnological Museum, 5hrs

On the way to Baikal and Listvyanka village you will visit the Baikal ecological museum (Limnological), where an impressive exhibit of the history of flora and fauna from the lake region is displayed. The museum was open by the Limnologucal Institute, the Siberian department of the Russian Academy of Sciences. There is an aquarium with different species of fish and the nerpa – the Baikal fresh water seal. When you arrive in Listvyanka, besides being able to take in incredible views of the lake, you will have an opportunity to visit a local Orthodox church - St. Nikolai.
