The Cinema Hall on the Palace Square
The Cinema and Music Festival "Holidays in St. Petersburg" will be held on the Palace Square. The idea of organizing such an event came along with the announcement of a year 2016 - a year of Russian films.
The Festival will take place in St. Petersburg during White Nights from 16th of June till 19th of June. The temporary cinema hall will be constructed on the Palace Square, and everyone will be able to visit it free of charge.
Movies will be devided into three thematical sections: "The History of St. Petersburg", "Heroes and Charachters" and "The Golden Century of Cinema for Children". During the festival it will be possible to see works of such Russian film directors as Maslennikov, Balabanov, Eisenstein and others, whose works and lifes are inevitably connected with St. Petersburg.
The section for children will be dedicated to the cinematized fairytales. The most exceptional moment will be the cuts from the Eisentstein movies accompanied with the orchestra and chorus of Mariinsky theatre. On 17th of June, the cinematographic concert will take place; it will commemorate the memorable date - the 125th anniversary since birth of Sergei Prokofiev.
