Aeroflot Creates Low-Cost Airline
Aeroflot CEO, Vitaly Saveliyev, recently said that the new low-cost airline wont be comfortable, but will be cheap. The company is already underway buying up loc-cost carriers across the regions of Russia.
Saveliyev believes the company can cut a minimun of 20-40% off the price. To do so, the new low-cost carrier will have seats similar to a suburbam train, there will be strict rules on luggage weight, there will be no first or business class, meals and drinks will be available for additional cost and tickets will be available for purchase only online.
This plan is similar to how budget airlines operate all over europe.
Dmitry Baranov, of Finam Mangaement, pointed out that to many Russians this type of travel will be very reminiscent of train travel during the Soviet times.
Nonetheless, traverlers in Russia will have access to cheaper flights, something they've all been asking for.
